Comic: Japanese Visa Lessons

  This is basically my life right now. I wrote a “comic” about it trying to deal with frustrations because I’m not allowed to job hunt and Ryosuke and I are strapped for cash. And I don’t handle frustration well. Oh well. Visas are difficult to square away in any country. The only difference between here and America is that the Shinagawa Immigration Office literally smells like death. The air is thick and difficult to breath. There are people crying, sleeping on nearby benches, and coughing up a storm. It is so “un-Japanese.” Both Ryosuke and I were a little bit freaked out after our day-long visit (and subsequent failure after 3 hours of filling out paperwork). I’m not even joking, it was like 120% worse than the DMV or Social Security office in Texas. There were protesters outside – all from different countries (protesters from China were protesting the inhuman testing centers in rural China; protesters from Korea were protesting something related to North Korea). They were handing out pamphlets with their respective languages. It was surreal. And I have to go back there in a month with the new paperwork to get a spousal visa.
