Comic: Angry, Racist Japanese man at Shinagawa Station

Sorry this comic is a little bit dark. Comics aren’t always “funny.” Last week, when Ryosuke and I were walking through Shinagawa station, we saw a commotion outside. An old guy in a hat was yelling a bunch of things into a megaphone I couldn’t understand (the only words I could catch were “foreigner” “Korean” “death” “Japan” and “kill”). It was a bit unnerving. He was surrounded by a bunch of police officers – but it wasn’t clear whether they were protecting or arresting him. An hour later, when we were walking home, he was still there. The cops were also still there. They were standing in the EXACT same spots. The entire experience was a bit unnerving. I see protests every once in a while in Japan – it is usually an older person with a sign, marching or talking into a microphone. This was the first time I legitimately saw an “Angry” protest – dark enough that Ryosuke refused to translate everything he was saying (which, in hindsight, was a nice thing to do).
