I’ve been married for nearly 4 months now. And those four months have been pretty crazy – which I guess, to be honest, reflects on Ryosuke and my relationship. I am, in the nicest terms, crazy (“but you’re also hot,” Ryosuke tells me often. “You score very high on the hot/crazy scale.”). I’m also highly motivated. Ryosuke is our compass, keeping us on track, while I push our little boat any way the wind blows. Which is all just a very bad metaphor to say we are very, very different people yet we seem to complement each other in lots of good ways. What I’ve learned through four months of marriage: 1. Marriage changes things Shortly after Ryosuke and I got engaged, we learned the ugly truth that being “engaged” changes things. The fights we had as an engaged couple were vastly different than the fights we had as “just boyfriend/girlfriend.” The little things that never bothered me before seemed to make all the difference in the world now; things he never noticed became glaringly obvious post-engagement.
