Japanese tourists in Singapore can be rather confusing to Singaporeans. Today’s guest post comes from blogger, Angeline Marie-Therese Tan, at Musings Of A Polyglot Wannabe. She talks about the top three things she doesn’t understand about Japanese tourists in Singapore: Every year, thousands of Japanese tourists travel miles from Japan down south to our sunny island set in the tropics. Their presence is increasingly noticeable over the years as more and more Japanese tourists are flocking to Singapore for cheaper shopping (as compared to shopping prices in the larger Japanese cities), sightseeing and getting more of the tropical sunshine. Having lived most of my life in Singapore, I have had opportunities to mingle with many of them (due to my part-time job as a student tour guide) as well as through friends and acquaintances. As much as I relish the company of these polite people, I have my observations (many observations that befuddle me) about them.
