What is Japan like during the 2014 FIFA World Cup? Good question. My husband and I went to watch the kickoff game (Japan VS Cote d’Ivoire) for the World Cup in Shibuya – mostly because I read online that there was going to be an influx of police officers to control rowdy crowds. I wanted to see a rowdy Japanese crowd. And I wanted to see a bunch of police officers in action. So we went to Shibuya and tried to find a bar to watch the game (we don’t have a TV at our house). Sadly, Japan lost 2-1. That loss did nothing to quell the spirits of crazy supporters, who spent the next couple hours running through Shibuya chanting and cheering. I took some videos and made this vlog. Also, I got groped by a chikan in the crowd (I managed to get a good elbow in before he slipped through the crowd but he was gone before I had time to turn around) – and saw on twitter tons of other women got groped in the crowds.
