One of the things I love about living off the Keio Line in Tokyo is the fact that it’s usually not very crowded, especially if I take a local train. So, if I’m tired, I can just wait a couple minutes for a less crowded train – and ride that one home. I love being able to always get a seat. Except… there’s also a lot of little old ladies who live off the Keio Line… (is there like a retirement community somewhere along the line? Every time I get on the train there are several little old ladies. They’re everywhere!) And every time one of those little old ladies boards the train and there isn’t an empty seat, I feel obligated to give them mine. They’re always so sweet about it (complimenting my Japanese, calling me a ‘good foreigner,’ and asking me about my life story). I love little old ladies in Japan. It’s the little things in life. PS – If you like this, I’m publishing my own comic book (On kickstarter) titled, “My Japanese Husband Thinks I’m Crazy!” full of all sorts of comics like this~
