Ryosuke and I went to “Sanba Matsuri” (サンバ祭り). It was fun, much more fun than I expected. I always love it when the real thing ends up exceeding my expectations.   Fun facts from Sanba Matsuri: Brazil (apparently) has the largest number of Japanese people outside of Japan. Cool. Most moved over to help with coffee farms after WWII and ended up not making enough money to come back. So they’ve built a “Japan-town” in Brazil. Asian Indian Jones is hot. If you don’t get that reference, re-watch the video, please. Japanese people go all-out for themed team competitions. Or anything that involves group dancing. Sanba Matsuri attracts 500,000 people each year. The reasons I wanted to watch the show and the reasons that the creepy old dude next to me wanted to watch the festival were completely different (once again, watch the video). Festivals in Japan are awesome
