I’ve been living in Japan for almost four years now. And in those four years, I’ve only worn a kimono once – for my seijinshiki (and engagement). [Ok, so actually, I wore a “sort of” kimono at Narita Airport, while waiting for a flight back to the States (getting ready to tell my parents that my long-time boyfriend and best friend was planning on proposing – with their permission, of course).
