Government offices always seem to take forever. It doesn’t matter what country you’re in. It took me several days of waiting in lines and bleak rooms in America to get all the documentation to get my name legally changed (after getting married) and another couple days of waiting in lines and uncomfortable benches to get a spousal visa in Japan. The first couple years as a spouse, they usually only give you a 1 year visa.
