You know how you find yourself doing things your parents did, without really knowing why? Ryosuke knocks on watermelons before he buys them, because that’s what his mom always does. Before cutting a clove of garlic I crush it with a mug or glass, because that’s what my parents do. It wasn’t until recently that I figured out crushing the garlic like that makes it easier to peel.
