One of the best things about running a “personal” blog is that I can post about whatever I want. I’ve worked with several niche blogs (like Tokyo Cheapo – posting about cheap ways to live in Tokyo). I like niche blogs because they have a very loyal and specific fan base and typically provide very structured and specific advice… but can get frustrating because these blogs only put out one “type” of post. But “Texan in Tokyo?” I’m all over the place. One day I’m blogging about the women only cars on trains in Japan. The next day it’s comics about BBC Sherlock’s voice in Japanese or how Ryosuke looks like an alien after he shaved his beard. And then some days I talk about silly things like rabbit cafes (where you pay by the hour to play with rabbits). I get about 1,500 – 2,000 hits a day from Google Search. While most of these search terms are “hidden,” I’m able to see about 50 – 100 “search terms” a day.
