I’ve never been a huge fan of weddings. I like the idea of a wedding (friends, food, dancing, and drinking) – but weddings rarely live up to the “dream” you’ve crafted in your head through numerous romantic comedies. Most of the time, weddings are NOT this huge cry-fest of cheating, family problems, and dramatic “I OBJECT” speeches. Honestly, I didn’t know what to expect when Ryouske and I were invited to our first wedding in Japan. One of his good friends from middle school was getting married to his long-time girlfriend (of seven years). Ryosuke wrote me down as his plus one. After a couple of problems figuring out what I was actually supposed to wear (I wrote an entire post on What to Wear to a Japanese Wedding in Japan, if you’re in the same boat), a frantic panic after we learned we put the “wrong” amount of money in the envelope, and an awkward realization that I was the only female on the “grooms” side, I walked away from this wedding with a head full of ideas.
