Surviving the distance: Lessons I learned from my first year in a long distance relationship (Share your Story)

This week’s guest post is from Elena, the travel blogger behind Elena’s Travelgram. She talks about how she met her boyfriend, “B” and their long distance relationship. She writes:  The Story of me and “B” My significant other, B, and I met a bit over a year ago in Kiev, Ukraine. We both signed up for a backpacker’s trip around Indonesia organized by a local travelers’ community.  We friended each other on Facebook, he wrote me some things about my photos from India and then we met in person with other group members to have a talk about the upcoming trip. He phoned me to ask where exactly we are all meeting, came and set right next to me. I just didn’t pay attention to that. (He told me later that he liked me a lot from my photo on Facebook and wanted to meet me so much!) So we met again in a month at the airport. It just happened that from the whole group only me and B had the same tickets with an 11 hour connection in Dubai.  Okay, at least I’ll have company. I gave him a call and we met at the gate.
