Comic: Is Hanabi (firework festival) in Japan worth it?

Japanese people love hanabi (花火 – watching fireworks). I’ve been to dozens of festivals all over Japan that involve throwing on a yukata (summer Japanese “kimono” of sorts, but it’s only one layer, is made of different materials, and has childish patterns), pushing through a bunch of crowds, and sitting on a “leisure sheet” (plastic sheet) to watch the fireworks. Don’t get me wrong, I love fireworks. But I always have to wonder… is it worth it? Cramming onto the train, pushing through crowds, and sweating through the yukata? I guess it is worth it, because we keep going every year. And I’m a huge sucker for festival food. And, ok, you got me. I do love wearing a yukata.  (Two years ago, doing hanabi out in Ibaraki with Ryosuke’s family)   PS – If you like this, I’m publishing my own comic book (On kickstarter) titled, “My Japanese Husband Thinks I’m Crazy!” full of all sorts of comics like this~
