Comic: Why do people WANT to eat Squid Ink? (McDonald/Burger King’s “Black Burgers”)

Squid ink is not aappetizing But then again, that (like everything else on this blog) is my own, personal opinion. On September 18th, Burger King unveiled their “Black Burger” with black cheese, black hamburger buns, and black sauce. It was colored black, of course, with squid ink because why not. They weren’t the first to do this – Saizeriya (サイゼリア), the pseudo Italian “family restaurant” chain famous for tiny portion sizes and being ridiculously cheap, has had “squid ink” pasta for, I don’t know, several years at least. I tried Saizeriya’s squid ink pasta about three years ago and wasn’t impressed. It was bitter and awkward tasting. Over the years, I’ve pushed a couple friends to try it too, and I have yet to find someone who actually likes the stuff. I feel like people aren’t supposed to want to eat squid ink. Or something like that. In any case, McDonalds also decided to make a “squid ink” burger too (only from three chains in Tokyo, for an eight day span as a Halloween promotion) – so now people are calling in “battle of the black burgers.” Which side am I on? Neither. I actively choose not to eat squid [...]
