Today marked Ryosuke’s first Black Friday. But before you start thinking he’s some backward folk, it was also MY first Black Friday trip (and he’s from Japan, so at least he has an excuse. I’m just lazy and poor). After a day of shopping on Black Friday Black Friday is an American “holiday” of shopping and excess that takes place the day after Thanksgiving – another enormous American holiday where everyone gathers with their family and talks about how Thankful they all are. Then, at around midnight, they all load up in cars and go spend hundreds of dollars buying stuff (especially technology) they don’t really need. It’s a fantastic holiday. But it’s not my kind of holiday. Also, we would always go out to my Nonnie’s house – far out in the middle of nowhere, at least an hour from the nearest ‘city.’ Added with the lack of public transportation in Texas and the amount of drunk/aggressive drivers on the road out scoring deals, and it is a recipe for disaster.
